Song Lyric Sunday – Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol

I know other people have used this song in the past, but I honestly wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I didn’t use this for one of my themes, and it just fits so perfectly today. I’m also OK if someone else has already posted it or posts it on their blog. There can never be too much of this song, in my opinion.

Chasing Cars is my favorite Snow Patrol song. I first heard it on the radio and was so excited about it. But back then, it was a whole lot harder to find music and I either had to go find their CD in the store (if it was even out yet) or I just had to wait to hear it on the radio again. I eventually heard it again and then it became so overplayed it almost got annoying, but I will always love this song.

There’s just something so beautiful about the idea of lying next to someone and forgetting the world. I think it’s something we could all use more of.

I do hope you enjoy! Happy Sunday everyone!

We’ll do it all
Everything
On our own
We don’t need
Anything
Or anyone
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
I don’t quite know
How to say
How I feel
Those three words
Are said too much
They’re not enough
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we’re told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that’s bursting into life
Let’s waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads
I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we’re told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that’s bursting into life
All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they’re all I can see
I don’t know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Song Lyric Sunday – Chocolate by Snow Patrol

I find it strange that no matter how hard I try to go in a different direction, I always seem to end up with the first thing that came into my head when I came up with the theme.  It’s no different this week.  I thought this song was maybe sideways to the theme, but chocolate is technically candy, right?

Ever since I first heard Snow Patrol on the radio, I’ve loved them.  Although the video is slightly weird and I find that the lyrics have nothing whatsoever to do with chocolate, I still love it.  If you stick around for the ending of the video, it’s worth it.  I finally understood what the video was about, anyway, and I think it’s an important message.  We don’t always have to run just because there’s a deadline or a clock ticking down, but we always seem to do it just because we should.  I don’t know, it’s worth thinking about.

Anyway, even though the lyrics don’t fit the theme, I figure the title does (sort of), and that’s good enough for me.

I hope you enjoy!

This could be the very minute
I’m aware I’m alive
All these places feel like home

With a name I’d never chosen
I can make my first steps
As a child of twenty-five

This is the straw, final straw in the
Roof of my mouth as I lie to you
Just because I’m sorry doesn’t mean
I didn’t enjoy it at the time

You’re the only thing that I love
Scares me more every day
On my knees I think clearer

Goodness knows I saw it coming
Or at least I’ll claim I did
But in truth I’m lost for words

What have I done? It’s too late for that
What have I become? Truth is nothing yet

A simple mistake starts the hardest time
I promise I’ll do anything you ask, this time

Song Lyric Sunday – It’s Beginning To Get To Me by Snow Patrol

I honestly had no idea what song I was going to pick today.  The one I would have picked if I hadn’t used it already would have been Breathe by Anna Nalick.  But, I’m all about not duplicating here on the bog so I had to go search for something else.

I was so excited when I actually read the lyrics to this song.  Ever since I heard Snow Patrol for the first time, I’ve been in love with them.  There’s just something in their music that touches me in a deep way and I think their lyrics are amazing.

This song makes me think of my last marriage.  It was hard for me to be with someone whom I felt was so cold.  I felt alone all the time, even when right next to him.  I’m a pretty passionate person and the lyric in this song, “we need to feel breathless with love” is exactly how I feel about love.  I also felt like I was “screaming under my breath” just to be heard.  It was a sad existence and I’m happy I finally found courage enough to walk away.

I could not have imagined then that I would find the love of my life and finally feel that passion and peace that I’ve always longed for.

I hope you enjoy!

Lyrics found on Google Play Music

I want something
That’s purer than the water
Like we were

It’s not there now
Ineloquence and anger
Are all we have

Like Saturn’s rings
An icy loop around me
Too hard to hold

Lash out first
At all the things we don’t like
Or understand

And it’s beginning to get to me
That I know more of the stars and sea
Than I do of what’s in your head
Barely touching in our cold bed

Are you beginning to get, get my point?
They’re always fighting with aching joints
It’s doing nothing but tire us out
No one knows what this fight’s about

The answer phone
The lonely sound of your voice
Frozen in time

I only need
The compass that you gave me
To guide me on

And it’s beginning to get to me
That I know more of the stars and sea
Than I do of what’s in your head
Barely touching in our cold bed

Are you beginning to get get my point?
They’re always fighting with aching joints
It’s doing nothing but tire us out
No one knows what this fight’s about

It’s so thrilling but also wrong
Don’t have to prove that you are so strong
‘Cause I can carry you on my back
After our enemies attack

I tried to tell you before I left
But I was screaming under my breath
You are the only thing that makes sense
Just ignore all this present tense

We need to feel breathless with love
And not collapse under its weight
I’m gasping for the air to fill
My lungs with everything I’ve lost

We need to feel breathless with love
And not collapse under its weight
I’m gasping for the air to fill
My lungs with everything I’ve lost
