Song Lyric Sunday – It’s Christmas Day by Family Force 5

I went through a time when I really didn’t want to listen to mainstream Christmas music. I even tried to convince myself that I didn’t like it, but I realized this year that I actually love so much of it. There are songs that I don’t like, for sure, but for the most part, it’s all just part of the season.

My daughter introduced me to Family Force 5 and I was excited when they put out a Christmas album, although somewhat reluctant. It was actually better than I thought it would be. The year the album came out, I bought VIP tickets for me and my daughter and we saw them live in concert the first part of December. We got to meet the band and I even have a picture to show for it!

This album was the only Christmas music I listened to for at least two years in a row. I still love it, even though I haven’t listened to it in a while. I’m happy that this song fit the theme today and that I get to share it with you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all!

I woke up this morning
And I stumbled out of my bed
Dreams from the night before
ring inside of my head
Ran down the stairs when I remembered
It’s Christmas day
Christmas day

Everyone is right here at home
Sing all those songs we all know
This is the season for love
It’s Christmas day

A day like any other day
Where even the coldest of hearts will pray
For peace on earth and good will to all men
We all can remember the greatest
The greatest gift of all

It’s Christmas day

I saw all the presents
wrapped underneath the tree
Now I’m surrounded by my family
Oh, I can hardly believe
That it’s Christmas day

Children singing
And the jingle bells ringing
Wake up it’s Christmas morn
The day our king was born

Snowflakes are falling
All the times that we’re recalling
We laugh and celebrate
Today is Christmas day

It’s Christmas day
Christmas day

It’s Christmas day
Christmas day

Song Lyric Sunday – You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch

About 10 years ago, this choice would have been very different.  It’s not that I don’t like giving and the idea of Christmas, because I love all of that; I just went through a few years where I didn’t really have a place to call home and then the place my fiance and I lived in was just too small to really decorate or do anything.  I suppose that’s a bit of a cop out.  I really just got tired of Christmas in general… it’s so commercialized and I’m not religious, so the whole other aspect of Christmas is just lost on me at this point.

But… But…

I miss Christmas.  I miss the excitement and the joy and the magic of it all.  I’ve decided (pretty much in the last two hours) that my goal for next year and the rest of my life is to be more like Elf rather than the Grinch.  You are going to see a whole new Christmas me next year, I promise.

But, for now, and this year in particular… I’m the Grinch.  Haha.  I’ve said multiple times this year and in years past, that I hate Christmas.  But truly, deep down, I really do have a heart and I really do love Christmas.  I just haven’t found my idea of Christmas yet.

I hope you enjoy this spectacular version of the song that I heard just today.

And really, Merry Christmas to my most amazing blogging family.  I’ve missed you in the past month and I plan to get back into the swing of things soon.

You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch Performed by Jordan Smith
Written by Albert Hague
Lyrics found at AZ Lyrics

You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch
You really are a heel,
You’re as cuddly as a cactus, you’re as charming as an eel, Mr. Grinch,
You’re a bad banana with a greasy black peel!

Just face a music, you’re a monster, Mr. Grinch,
Your heart’s an empty hole,
Your brain is full of spiders, you got garlic in your soul, Mr. Grinch,
I wouldn’t touch you with a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole!

You’re a foul one, Mr. Grinch,
You’re a nasty wasty skunk,
Your heart is full of unwashed socks, your soul is full of gunk, Mr. Grinch!

You’re a foul one, Mr. Grinch,
You have termites in your smile,
You have all the tender sweetness of a seasick crocodile, Mr. Grinch,
Given a choice between you I’d take the seasick crocodile!
Seasick crocodile!

The three words that best describe you are as follows, and I quote,
“Stink, stank, stunk”!

#LoIsInDaBl Day 3 – Snow (As it relates to love)

I took this picture on Christmas Day. Snow just seems to make that day even more magical, doesn’t it? I’m also trying to remember that there was a point this year that I LOVED snow. I’m hoping it will get me through the next few months…

Love Is In Da Blog is hosted by Bee at Just Fooling Around with Bee. We are combining today’s post with Wordless Wednesday. I know I typed a few words up there, but I couldn’t help it. I had to explain how snow relates to LOVE.
