Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 11/18/18

Today really got away from me. I was sitting here relaxing and crocheting when I suddenly remembered that it was Saturday and I hadn’t posted the theme yet. I meant to do it before I left for a party today, but I ran out of time. I do apologize for the lateness of it, but at least I remembered, right?

I’m going to keep this short and just get right to it. Let’s put on our thinking caps, break out our playlists and get to work!  Our theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is listen.

As always, you can go your own way and post a song that has nothing to do with the prompt.  We’re all here sharing our love of music and lyrics, and most of all, having a great time!

If you would like to suggest a theme, I am open to suggestions.   Please either pop it in the comments or send me an email at helenvahdati@yahoo.com.

Here are the “rules”:

  • Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
  • Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
  • Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
  • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
  • Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
  • Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process

Feel free to use the Song Lyric Sunday badge by copying it into your post or add it to your site to show you are participating.

  10. Reblogged this on Wonderwall and commented:
This week’s prompt is LISTENING. Listening could be described as feeling noise, so that is the song I have chosen. Nothing wrong with the Slade version but, of course I have listened to Oasis version more. Liam attempting Bryn accent at beginning is funny.

So you think you got an evil mind
    Well I’ll tell you honey
    And I don’t know why
    I don’t know why
So you think my singin’s’ out of time
    Well it makes me money
    And I don’t know why
    I don’t know why
    Anymore, oh no

So cum on feel the noize
    Girls rock your boys
    We’ll get wild, wild, wild
    We’ll get wild, wild, wild
    Cum on feel the noize
    Girls rock your boys
    We’ll get wild, wild, wild
    Til dawn

So you think you I got a funny face
    Well I’m not worried
    And I don’t know why
    I don’t know why
Along about last week I stopped this race
    I’m in no hurry
    And I don’t know why
    I don’t know why
    Anymore, no no

So cum on feel the noize
    Girls rock your boys
    We’ll get wild, wild, wild
    Wild, wild, wild
    Cum on feel the noize
    Girls rock your boys
    We’ll get wild, wild, wild
    Til dawn

Well you think we have a lazy time
    You should know better
    I don’t know why
    I don’t know why
And you say I got a dirty mind
    Well I’m a mean go-getter
    I don’t know why
    I don’t know why
    Anymore, oh no

So cum on feel the noize
    Girls rock your boys
    We’ll get wild, wild, wild
    Wild, wild, wild
So cum on feel the noize
    Girls rock your boys
    We’ll get wild, wild, wild
    Til dawn

  19. I love the Sunday mornings when I want to get up and make breakfast for my kids, or I guess I should say kid. The best part is he came up with the song for my SLS post. I don’t think I have ever really listened to these lyrics, or even read them, but they spoke to me this morning, so here is Queensryche’s “Anybody Listening.”
Written by Christopher Degarmo and Geoff Tate

You and I long to live like wind upon the water
If we close our eyes we’ll maybe realize
There’s more to life than what we have known
And I can’t believe I’ve spent so long
Living lies I knew were wrong inside
I’ve just begun to see the light
Long ago there was a dream, had to make a choice or two
Leaving all I loved behind for what nobody knew
    Stepped out on the stage
A life under lights and judging eyes
Now the applause has died and I can dream again
    Is there anybody listening?
Is there anyone that sees what’s going on?
Read between the lines, criticize the words they’re selling
Think for yourself and feel the walls
    Become sand beneath your feet
    Fell the breeze?
Time’s so near you can almost taste the freedom
There’s a warm wind from the south
Hoist the sail and we’ll be gone
By morning, this will all seem like a dream
And if I don’t return to sing the song, maybe just as well
I’ve seen the news and there’s not much I can do alone
    Is there anybody listening?
Is there anyone who smiles without a mask?
    What’s behind the words images
    They know will please us?
    I’ll take what’s real
    Bring up the lights
    Is there anybody listening?
Is there anyone that sees what’s going one?
    Read between the lines
    Criticize the words they’re selling
Think for yourself and feel the walls
    Become sand beneath your feet
    Close your eyes

    • Haven’t heard this song in so long, great choice! I was a fan of theirs back in the 90’s with this song and the popular “Silent Lucidity” – although I really liked “Jet City Woman” for their rockier sound. It was my mom who told me that Geoff Tate’s mother was a famous opera singer, and I think he, himself, might have some of that vocal training.
