I came into this thinking I knew exactly what song I was going to choose. I picked the theme based on the song, after all. I was listening to my music library on shuffle on Friday and heard a song that had the word “soul” in it, but I couldn’t find it this morning. Oh well, there are other songs to choose from, I just had to find one.
I finally ending up doing a Google search and came across this song. It is new to me as of today, but I absolutely love it. I may have to check out more of this band. I thought I’d seen their name before, but I thought they were something completely different. However, since I ended up falling in love with this song, I’m going to say that it wasn’t a bad thing that I was surprised.
Now that I’ve done yet another Google search, I’ve found that my memory wasn’t wrong. They are a Finnish cello metal band from Finland, which means that maybe I was lucky that this one wasn’t too metal for me (because there is such a thing).
I do hope you enjoy!
I’d find a way out if I knew where to look
If I could, I’d rip this page out of my book
I’m confused and misguided and my faith is beside me
There’s a thorn in my heart and it’s killing me
I wish I could go back and do it all differently
‘Cause now there’s a hole in my soul where you use to be
I’m walking alone down this desolate road
Yesterday feels like a life time ago
The memories are fading, my dreams are all changing
There’s a thorn in my heart and it’s killing me
I wish I could go back and do it all differently
‘Cause now there’s a hole in my soul where you use to be
And it’s filled with regret and all I did, to push you away
If there’s still a place in your life, in your heart for me
I would do anything, so don’t ask me to leave
You’re the thorn in my heart and you’re killing me
I wish I could go back and do it all differently
I wish that I’d treated you differently
‘Cause now there’s a hole in my soul where you use to be
The Song Lyric Sunday theme for this week was soul. Please feel free to click the link, read the rules and post one of your own.
Another new one for me Helen. Very haunting, and enjoyable. I love “I’ve got a hole in my soul where you use to be.”

I’ve heard this band before, but everything that I had heard had been instrumentals. It is refreshing to hear vocals with their music.

I like instrumental, but not quite as much as vocals and lyrics. 😉

Nice song. Mello of a metal on this tune, but I’m with ya on not much is too much metal. I like music to make me feel good, not like I been mugged. Thanks for doing this, Helen.

I love Apocalyptica and have several of their songs in my music library, and they are not as heavy metal as you’d think, but this is a new one for me and it’s beautiful, thanks for sharing! To set the record straight though, this is not Apocalyptica singing – they do not have a vocalist in their band, they are strictly classically trained instrumentalists. Someone just forget to put “Featuring Franky Perez” on the title of the video, because that’s who is singing this song.

Helen, not only do you challenge me every week to come up with songs to go with your great themes, but you have also introduced me to so much great music. And this one does not disappoint. The words are real and powerful, the melody is pleasing and I love the vocals. Thanks so much for sharing it. I am going to check out their other stuff. Any recommendations?

Honestly, I haven’t followed them at all, so I was planning to do the same thing! A.C. Melody said she knew them, so maybe you could ask her for recommendations? She commented previously in the thread. 😊

This is a new one for me, as well. I’m really liking it. For some reason it sounds like it would work good as background music in a movie of some sort. 🙂
