Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 9/30/18

I don’t know if I have any really great story to tell about the theme this week. I came up with it based on a task I was doing at the day job, to be honest. It all started on Thursday, which was a rough day. It seemed like no matter what I looked at, I couldn’t quite figure out how to handle it or what to do next. I left feeling like a huge failure and didn’t really want to go to work on Friday.

Thank goodness a full night’s sleep actually helps. Things went much more smoothly yesterday and I felt like everything was back on track. If I tried telling you about where the them came from, this whole post would get sideways pretty fast, so I’ll just leave it at that and we’ll just get right to it.

Let’s put on our thinking caps, break out our playlists and get to work!  Our theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is search.

As always, you can go your own way and post a song that has nothing to do with the prompt.  We’re all here sharing our love of music and lyrics, and most of all, having a great time!

If you would like to suggest a theme, I am open to suggestions.   Please either pop it in the comments or send me an email at helenvahdati@yahoo.com.

Here are the “rules”:

  • Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
  • Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
  • Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
  • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
  • Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
  • Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process

Feel free to use the Song Lyric Sunday badge by copying it into your post or add it to your site to show you are participating.

  2. Reblogged this on Wonderwall and commented:
Straight away search made me think of this song. I used to love hearing it on the car advert that it was on; in the days before internet, YouTube or Alexa easy access to any songs.

Sometimes the river flows but nothing breathes.
A train arrives but never leaves.
    It’s a shame.
Oh life – like love that walks out of the door,
Of being rich or being poor.
    Such a shame.
But it’s then, then that faith arrives
To make you feel at least alive.
And that’s why you should keep on aiming high,
Just seek yourself and you will shine.
You’ve go to search for the hero inside yourself,
Search for the secrets you hide.
Search for the hero inside yourself
Until you find the key to your life.
In this life, long and hard though it may seem,
Live it as you’d live a dream.
    Aim so high.
Just keep the flame of truth burning bright.
The missing treasure you must find
because you and only you alone
can build a bridge across the stream.
Weave your spell in life’s rich tapestry –
Your passport to a feel supreme.
You’ve go to search for the hero inside yourself,
Search for the secrets you hide.
Search for the hero inside yourself
Until you find the key to your life.
Search inside yourself. (You’ve got to search)
Search inside yourself. (You’ve got to search)
Search inside yourself. (You’ve got to search)
You’ve go to search for the hero inside yourself,
Search for the secrets you hide.
Search for the hero inside yourself
Until you find the key to your life.
You’ve go to search for the hero inside yourself,
Search for the secrets you hide.
Search for the hero inside yourself
Until you find the key to your life.
    You’ve got to.
    (Search inside yourself)
    You’ve got to.
    (Search inside yourself)
    You’ve got to.
    (Search inside yourself)
    Search.

  6. Howdy, Helen!

I was reminded to play along today after seeing my good friend Mary from Jingle, Jangle, Jungle’s post this morning. Normally, I’m MIA in Blogosphere on the weekends but DH is working again today. 😦 Anyhow, I updated my post to include my lyric choice. I noticed Wonderwall shared the same lyrics as I did. 🙂 Oh well, I did include the song on my site for anyone who wishes to stop by! Have a songsational Sunday and thanks for hosting!

  31. I have an advantage, and there are weeks that I use it, but this week the advantage was of no use to me, because the only song I could think of was “This is Me,” from the Greatest Showman. I even searched a bit for a different song, but I kept coming back to this, so I am going to use it. I have been on a journey lately, searching for myself, and this song just resonates. So…have a great Sunday.
Written by Justin Paul, Benj Pasek lyrics from Google

I am not a stranger to the dark
    Hide away, they say
‘Cause we don’t want your broken parts
I’ve learned to be ashamed of all my scars
    Run away, they say
No one’ll love you as you are
But I won’t let them break me down to dust
I know that there’s a place for us
    For we are glorious
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I’m meant to be, this is me
Look out ’cause here I come
And I’m marching on to the beat I drum
I’m not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh
Another round of bullets hits my skin
Well, fire away ’cause today, I won’t let the shame sink in
We are bursting through the barricades and
Reaching for the sun (we are warriors)
Yeah, that’s what we’ve become (yeah, that’s what we’ve become)
I won’t let them break me down to dust
I know that there’s a place for us
    For we are glorious
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I’m meant to be, this is me
Look out ’cause here I come
And I’m marching on to the beat I drum
I’m not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh
    This is me
and I know that I deserve your love
(Oh-oh-oh-oh) ’cause there’s nothing I’m not worthy of
    (Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh)
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
This is brave, this is proof
This is who I’m meant to be, this is me
Look out ’cause here I come (look out ’cause here I come)
And I’m marching on to the beat I drum (marching on, marching, marching on)
I’m not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
    I’m gonna send a flood
    Gonna drown them out
    Oh
    This is me
