Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 9/9/18

I was planning to catch up on all my listening and reading your posts last weekend, but you can’t always predict what’s going to happen. Needless to say, I started it, but didn’t finish it. Now I find myself even more behind. But, I will catch up! I always do.

I’m not so great about changing my profile pictures on social media. To be honest, I’m not a huge social media person, which is funny considering I have a blog. I decided to change one of my profile pictures the other day and realized that I don’t like any of my current pictures. I’m working on that, but for now, all my pictures are from four years ago. It’s still me, right?

This, of course, leads us right into our theme, so let’s just get right to it. Let’s put on our thinking caps, break out our playlists and get to work!  Our theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is picture/photograph.

As always, you can go your own way and post a song that has nothing to do with the prompt.  We’re all here sharing our love of music and lyrics, and most of all, having a great time!

If you would like to suggest a theme, I am open to suggestions.   Please either pop it in the comments or send me an email at helenvahdati@yahoo.com.

Here are the “rules”:

  • Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
  • Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
  • Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
  • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
  • Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
  • Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process

Feel free to use the Song Lyric Sunday badge by copying it into your post or add it to your site to show you are participating.

The song I have picked with reference to photo, is Local boy in the photogragh. A Stereophonics song I have loved for years. I saw the Stereophonics sing it at the end of my road in July as part of Tramlines festival in Sheffield.

It seems appropriate for this time of year as the UK starts to move into autumn 🍂. So far just a slight cool crispness in the air rather than the warmth of the sun a reminder that leaves 🍁 turning colour and falling from trees is just around the corner and 6 weeks until clocks go back.

    Local Boy in the Photograph
    Stereophonics
    There’s no mistake
    I smell that smell
It’s that time of year again
    I can taste the air
    Clocks go back railway track
    Something blocks the line again
And the train runs late for the first time
A pebble beach, we’re underneath a pier, just been painted red
Where I hear the news for the first time
And all the friends lay down the flowers
Sit on the banks and drink for hours
Talk of the way they saw him last
    Local boy in the photograph
    He’ll always be twenty three
Yet the train runs on and on
Past the place they found his clothing
    There’s no mistake
    I smell that smell
It’s that time of year again
    I can taste the air
The clocks go back railway track
    Something blocks the line again
And the train runs late for the first time
And all the friends lay down the flowers
Sit on the banks and drink for hours
Talk of the way they saw him last
    Local boy in the photograph
    Today, is gone away

  18. I told my son this morning what the theme was for sls, and he said “Moving Pictures.” I asked who it was by and his reply, as he just gave me this “Duh” gaze, “Rush.” I had no idea that it was an album, and my favorite Rush song is on it. I know it doesn’t have “picture” anywhere in the title or lyrics, but the album title does, and this morning that counts for me. I hope you all have a great Sunday.
Written by Neil Peart, Geddy Lee Weinrib, Alex Lifeson, and Paul Phillip Woods, from AZ lyrics

    A modern day warrior
    Mean, mean stride
    Today’s Tom Sawyer
    Mean, mean pride

Though his mind is not for rent
Don’t put him down as arrogant
    His reserve, a quiet defense
    Riding out the day’s events
    The river

What you say about his company
Is what you say about society
Catch the mist, catch the myth
Catch the mystery, catch the drift

The world is, the world is
    Love and life are deep
Maybe as his skies are wide

    Today’s Tom Sawyer
    He gets high on you
    And the space he invades
    He gets by on you

No his mind is not for rent
    To any god or government
    Always hopeful, yet discontent
    He knows changes aren’t permanent
    But change is

What you say about his company
Is what you say about society
Catch the witness, catch the wit
Catch the spirit, catch the spit

The world is, the world is
    Love and life are deep
Maybe as his eyes are wide

    Exit the warrior
    Today’s Tom Sawyer
    He gets high on you
    And the energy you trade
He gets right on to the friction of the day
