I’m thinking this is fast becoming my most featured band for SLS. However, I wouldn’t say they were my all-time favorite band, which is sort of funny if you think about it. I guess their songs just seem to fit the themes. This one became the antithesis of the theme, though, so I’m sort of breaking my own rules.
I’ll have to admit that I wasn’t very excited about the theme today. I was just running out of time and fresh out of good ideas, so I went with it. It doesn’t seem to have affected you all too much, since everyone seems to have come up with something, whether it fit the theme or not. (I have no idea if they do since I haven’t made the time to listen to everyone’s posts, but you know me… I’ll get to them).
Anyway, this song. I decided to go with it because it is basically a song without a plan. If you read the lyrics, it’s hard to catch any meaning, although I’ve attached plenty of meaning to them as I am wont to do. I looked it up on Wikipedia, and this is what Chris Martin said about it when he was on The Howard Stern Show:
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do
Yeah they were all yellow
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called “Yellow”
Oh what a thing to have done
And it was all yellow
Oh yeah, your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
You know, you know I love you so
You know I love you so
I jumped across for you
Oh what a thing to do
‘Cause you were all yellow
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all yellow
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
And you know
For you I’d bleed myself dry
For you I’d bleed myself dry
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine
Look how they shine for you
And all the things that you do
The Song Lyric Sunday theme for this week was plan. Please feel free to click the link, read the rules and post one of your own.
Hah! It’s OK to break your own rules every now and then, isn’t it?
Anyway, concerning the band, I have nothing against them but you might be amused to know that the only rule at the open mic venue I’ve played at recently (yes, my “own version” SLS submissions have helped me gain back my confidence) is no Coldplay. Like what have you got against them?

Maybe they’re just overdone? There are certain songs that are WAY over-played, even though I still love them. And yes, I break my own rules; although, I like to think of it as bending. 😉

It’s possible. Though if that’s the reason, they’ll say “no Coldplay or TFF” eventually as that’s at least half of my material! Hah.
Helen is to Coldplay as Lynn is to TFF. 😉

Oh yeah, I’ve heard this one before. It’s good. I like the background info you included. It is funny that maybe this song had no plan of how it would be. Turned out great, though. 🙂

I never knew this was a Coldplay song until recently. I first heard it on Pandora sung by Alex Parks. I love her version, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_Wocfr75kg

Helen, PLEASE don’t send me to the corner, but I don’t get it. I’ve played the video and read the lyrics twice, but am sitting here like… “Uh…er…”And I like Coldplay. Help! 😀

Yeah, I don’t really get it either. I’m not sure it has a meaning. 😏

As someone who loved colours and loves them still, even more for the fact that I can no longer see them, I love any song based around a colour. Whatever its meaning, I love how you chose it for the prompt word of plan because there may not have been one in this song’s creation. Well done. Love yellow. I won’t ever forget what you look like.
