I find it rather amazing how our minds work. Not that I claim to know much about the process, but I do know that we try to make sense of everything while we sleep. I know some people don’t remember their dreams, but I seem to have a knack for it. There have been times in my life that I begged whomever would listen to just let me sleep in peace; that deep, black place where your thoughts and everything else can finally rest.
I realize that even on the nights you don’t remember them, you are still dreaming, but for the most part, I wish I was one of those people who didn’t remember. Not only that, I seem to be that person who can’t have a happy dream, no matter what is going on. Perhaps that’s why I write. I’ve made the correlation before, and it has been a while since I really sat down and just got my thoughts out. Perhaps its time to pick it back up again.
Anyway, it is Saturday, and that time once again. So, let’s put on our thinking caps on, break out our playlists and get to work! Our theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is dream.
As always, you can go your own way and post a song that has nothing to do with the prompt. We’re all here sharing our love of music and lyrics, and most of all, having a great time!
If you would like to suggest a theme, I am open to suggestions. Please either pop it in the comments or send me an email at helenvahdati@yahoo.com.
Here are the “rules”:
- Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
- Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
- Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
- Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
- Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
- Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process
Feel free to use the Song Lyric Sunday badge by copying it into your post or add it to your site to show you are participating.
The “experts” say we don’t remember our dreams or dream in color…and I do both! Oh well, I never have been a rule-follower! LOL!
Great theme – let’s do this! 😉

I use my dreams to help me figure out my waking life. My dreaming self is much smarter than my waking self. I just wish my dreaming self didn’t speak in *code* so often😕😉
I love this theme! So many options…

I have to remind myself that my dreams are not real. Otherwise, I would be terribly afraid… 😏

Yeah, being in a car going uphill and chased by a murderous mob and the car dies & the brakes won’t work (one of my dreams) would be horrible if it was real.
I interpreted it to mean I was sliding back into old, bad ways and it wasn’t good for me.
Dream symbology can be really cool. Or a bunch of hooey. 😆

Yeah, I’m not sure about dream symbology. I think there’s something to it though… 😏

I dated a guy back in the day whose mom had an interpretation for EVERY dream…like, dream about fish, someone is pregnant! LOL! I stopped telling her about my dreams. 😀

I would have done the same thing. Lol

Yeah, some dreams are just a bin full of trash. System purge.

I don’t think I dream much. Certainly don’t remember many, except the ones where I wake up screaming! Nice theme.

My song is about a boy having a dream and believing in that dream. The boy is Jamie he is 16years old. His dream is to be a drag Queen. Specifically in the show this song is song when he is dreaming in a Careers lesson rather than listening to the teacher. The song is the first in the show and first in the soundtrack Everybody’s talking about Jamie. The show is based on real life, I think the original boy lived in North East of England. The musical was a collaboration between author and screen writer Tom Mcrae and musician Dan Gillespie Sells from the band the Feeling. The song was written by Gillespie Sells.

This one didn’t take too long to figure out, but I did have to choose, which doesn’t happen often for me. Usually one song just fits, but this week…well, it is about dreams after all. So here is “River of Dreams,” by Billy Joel
Written by Billy Joel from Google
In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
From the mountains of faith
To a river so deep
I must be looking for something
Something sacred I lost
But the river is wide
And it’s too hard to cross
And even though I know the river is wide
I walk down every evening and I stand on the shore
And try to cross to the opposite side
So I can finally find out what I’ve been looking for
In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the valley of fear
To a river so deep
And I’ve been searching for something
Taken out of my soul
Something I would never lose
Something somebody stole
I don’t know why I go walking at night
But now I’m tired and I don’t want to walk anymore
I hope it doesn’t take the rest of my life
Until I find what it is that I’ve been looking for
In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the jungle of doubt
To a river so deep
I know I’m searching for something
Something so undefined
That it can only be seen
By the eyes of the blind
In the middle of the night
I’m not sure about a life after this
God knows I’ve never been a spiritual man
Baptized by the fire, I wade into the river
That runs to the promised land
In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We’re all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night

Oh I do love this theme so much, because of the song it inspired for me. And what Helen wrote and all the comments…great. As a psychotherapist, I deal in dream interpretations some, but I actually prefer using the term when it refers to visualizing the future. If you can see it, visualize it, imagine it, “dream” it, you can create it!
So glad to post one of my favorite songs!
