Song Lyric Sunday – Writing’s On The Wall by Sam Smith

This one may be a stretch for the theme this week, but I’m not feeling my best today.  I came across this song a few weeks ago and really wanted to share it then, but it just didn’t fit.  I’m going to do my best to make it fit this week.

Letters are really all about the message, aren’t they?  Sometimes, life doesn’t give you clear messages, but when you look back on things, you realize that you should have known all along.  Hind sight is usually 20/20, but I believe the more experiences we have, the more we learn from them.  That doesn’t mean we always do better the next time, but those experiences can make us pause to try and see the writings on the wall.

I don’t know what it is about the James Bond songs, but they’re really a “thing”.  We were watching the beginning of one of the older ones a while ago and I realized that the song was spectacular!  I can’t remember it now, but luckily, I remembered this one.  I also shared the song from Skyfall already, so I guess I’m sort of obsessed.

Sam Smith has a dreamy voice and I just love this song.  I do hope you enjoy!

I’ve been here before
But always hit the floor
I’ve spent a lifetime running
And I always get away
But with you I’m feeling something
That makes me want to stay
I’m prepared for this
I never shoot to miss
But I feel like a storm is coming
If I’m gonna make it through the day
Then there’s no more use in running
This is something I gotta face
If I risk it all
Could you break my fall?
How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you’re not here I’m suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
For you I have to risk it all
‘Cause the writing’s on the wall
A million shards of glass
That haunt me from my past
As the stars begin to gather
And the light begins to fade
When all hope begins to shatter
Know that I won’t be afraid
If I risk it all
Could you break my fall?
How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you’re not here I’m suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
For you I have to risk it all
‘Cause the writing’s on the wall
The writing’s on the wall
How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you’re not here I’m suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you’re not here I’m suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
For you I have to risk it all
‘Cause the writing’s on the wall

  2. I admit, I haven’t seen any of the more recent Bond films, and by that I mean, since Pierce Bronson was Mr. 007 (I know, I’m hanging my head in shame). That aside, this song was amazing, it gave me chills, such an emotional delivery. Thanks for sharing! ❤
