Song Lyric Sunday – Strawberry Avalanche by Owl City

I haven’t listened to this band in ages, but they were my saving grace for a full year.  I listened to them on repeat as I drove to my sister’s house and then home to my kids.  There was just something so happy about their music.  I think their music helped keep me sane during a time when things in my life were not always what I wanted them to be.

I think this is a fitting choice for this week.  Even though the theme is “natural disasters”, this song is poetry in motion and pretty much the opposite of bad news.  I can’t think of anything more delightful than a strawberry avalanche crashing over me.  What about you?

I do hope you enjoy!

This is a world of dreams and reverie
Where I felt the stars explode around me
A grass-blade flashed with a gleam
As it slashed open a moon-beam
And I stared back breathlessly
As mountains of fruit tumbled out
I barely had the chance to shout
A strawberry avalanche crashed over me

Staying awake that night was rather hard
Deep in a sleeping bag in your backyard
When we woke up buried alive
Beneath a fruity landslide
We both laughed hysterically
It could have been just another dream
But I swear I heard you scream
A strawberry avalanche crashed over me

Always a citrus constellation in the galaxy
Scratched on the back of both my eyelids
And I’ve been dying to see
If you were a beautiful sound
In the echoes all around
Then I’d be your harmony
And we’d sing along with the crowds
Beneath the candy-coated clouds
A strawberry avalanche, please crash over me

This is a world of dreams and reverie
Where I felt the stars explode around me

    • Yeah, Fireflies was the song that got me started, but then I ended up getting all their songs. If you listen to all of them on repeat, they all sound similar, but it was a healing experience and I enjoyed my few months with them. 🙂
