Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 1/14/18

In the last six months, we have seen some crazy things.  We’ve had hurricanes and fires and earthquakes and each new thing makes me shake my head.  Are we really headed for that crazy story I was told as a child about the end of the world (that was supposed to happen almost twenty years ago)?  Is the Universe pissed at us because we picked The Donald as President?  Are we mistreating the planet and Mother Earth has finally taken a stand?

It’s pretty crazy and scary to think about.  It is also awful and sad what the survivors have endured.  I think the only thing we can do is to live more in the moment. We also need to remember that caring for each other and lending a helping hand is the only thing we really have control over.

All that being said, it does lead us to our theme reveal for Song Lyric Sunday this week – “natural disasters”.

As always, you can go your own way and post a song that has nothing to do with the prompt.  We’re all here sharing our love of music and lyrics, and most of all, having a great time!

I’m teaming up with Simply Marquessa  and her LyricalFictionFriday theme will be based on today’s theme.  Her posts go up on Thursday, so please check out her blog and her blog prompt this Thursday to delve into the world of music and fiction.

If you would like to suggest a theme, I am open to suggestions.   Please either pop it in the comments or send me an email at helenvahdati@yahoo.com.

Here are the “rules”:

  • Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
  • Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
  • Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
  • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
  • Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
  • Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process

Feel free to use the Song Lyric Sunday badge by copying it into your post or add it to your site to show you are participating.

    “Natura; Disasters”.

For this week’s prompt, you may need to get your thinking caps on but trust that you’ll find something in your playlist. It took me a while but I found a fantastic song that I feel fits the bill.

    Come on out and play!

Comments will be turned off on this post.

  15. This was a little rough, because all I could think about was Hurricane Katrina and the effect it had on our family. My husbands unit was sent to New Orleans to help provide communications for the region, and it was a bit scary not knowing how long he would be gone, and then came Hurricane Rita, and he was directly in it’s path. The year before we had come up with a song to help the kids with his frequent deployments, and it seemed to help the kids even more with this deployment, because we changed the words to fit the time. I can’t remember what the changes were, but the song still reminds me of those three uncertain weeks of wondering if he would really be coming back “On a Jet Plane.”
Written by John Denver from Google

    All my bags are packed
    I’m ready to go
I’m standin’ here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
    But the dawn is breakin’
    It’s early morn
    The taxi’s waitin’
    He’s blowin’ his horn
    Already I’m so lonesome
    I could die
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you’ll wait for me
Hold me like you’ll never let me go
‘Cause I’m leavin’ on a jet plane
Don’t know when I’ll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
There’s so many times I’ve let you down
So many times I’ve played around
I tell you now, they don’t mean a thing
Ev’ry place I go, I’ll think of you
Ev’ry song I sing, I’ll sing for you
When I come back, I’ll bring your wedding ring
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you’ll wait for me
Hold me like you’ll never let me go
‘Cause I’m leavin’ on a jet plane
Don’t know when I’ll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
Now the time has come to leave you
    One more time
    Let me kiss you
    Then close your eyes
    I’ll be on my way
Dream about the days to come
When I won’t have to leave alone
About the times, I won’t have to say
Oh, kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you’ll wait for me
Hold me like you’ll never let me go
‘Cause I’m leavin’ on a jet plane
Don’t know when I’ll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
But, I’m leavin’ on a jet plane
Don’t know when I’ll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
