Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 12/31/17

I don’t think I’m alone in being surprised that the year is over.  Where did it go?  It seemed to fly by in a flurry of hospitals, doctor visits and work.  That doesn’t sound too positive, and it really wasn’t, but I’ve decided to have a better attitude and focus more on what’s going right, rather than what’s gone wrong.

I used to come up with the themes on the spot, but I’ve found that some planning is nice.  It helps take the pressure off a bit; however, it also makes it so that the theme isn’t always relevant to what’s going on.  The last few weeks had nothing to do with the holidays (except my own interpretation), so I’m excited that this week’s theme actually sort of fits.

If you’re like me and most of the population, you’ve indulged way too much this holiday season, and just when you thought you were almost done and could start eating healthy, I’m throwing you this.  Let’s make it the last hoorah before starting that health kick that will probably only last a month or two.  What do you say?

Anyway, our theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is “sugar/candy”.

As always, you can go your own way and post a song that has nothing to do with the prompt.  We’re all here sharing our love of music and lyrics, and most of all, having a great time!

I’m teaming up with Simply Marquessa  and this week’s SLS theme was inspired by her weekly LyricalFictionFriday theme: “He looks like a cool drink of water but he’s candy-coated misery…” from the song Cowboy Casanova by Carrie Underwood.

If you would like to suggest a theme, I am open to suggestions.   Please either pop it in the comments or send me an email at helenvahdati@yahoo.com.

Here are the “rules”:

  • Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
  • Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
  • Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
  • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
  • Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
  • Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process

Feel free to use the Song Lyric Sunday badge by copying it into your post or add it to your site to show you are participating.

Candy, candy and more candy. I’ve overindulged so much over this holiday season that it’s just simply awful. The same may apply to you too! But, you can redeem yourself without all of the calories.
This week’s theme for Helen’s Song Lyric Sunday is “Candy”.
Be sure to post you participation directly on the original link below. Comments will be turned off on this post! Happy New Year!

  12. So I chose an obvious song, “Candyman” by Christina Aguilera, but I just couldn’t help myself. It is a bit raunchy, but I am a sucker for a man in uniform, and I love the style of the song, WWII era. So without further ado, here it is. I hope you enjoy and all have a happy and safe New Year!

    Candy man, candy man
    Sweet, sugar, candy man

I met him out for dinner on a Friday night
He really got me working up an appetite
He had tattoos up and down his arm
There’s nothing more dangerous than a boy with charm
He’s a one stop shop, makes the panties drop
He’s a sweet talkin’ sugar coated candy man
A sweet talkin’ sugar coated candy man

He took me to the Spider club on Hollywood and Vine
We drank champagne, and we danced all night
We shook the paparazzi for a big surprise (a big surprise)
The gossip tonight will be tommorow’s headlines
He’s a one stop shop, makes my cherry pop
He’s a sweet talkin’ sugar coated candy man (oh yeah)
A sweet talkin’ sugar coated candy man

He’s a one stop shop, makes my cherry pop
He’s a sweet talkin’ sugar coated candy man (oh)
A sweet talkin’ sugar coated candy man

Well, by now I’m getting all bothered and hot
When he kissed my mouth, he really hit the spot
He had lips like sugar cane, oh
Good things come for boys who wait

    Candy man, candy man
(Sippin’ from a bottle of vodka double wine)
    Candy man, candy man

He’s a one stop, gotcha hot, makin’ all the panties drop
    (Sweet, sugar, candy man)
He’s a one stop, got me hot, makin’ my (uh) pop
    (Sweet, sugar, candy man)
He’s a one stop, get it while it’s hot, baby, don’t stop
    (Sweet, sugar)

He got those lips like sugar cane
Good things come for boys who wait
He’s a one stop shop with a real big (uh)
He’s a sweet talkin’ sugar coated candy man
(Say what) a sweet talkin’ sugar coated candy man
(Say) a sweet talkin’ sugar coated candy man, woo
A sweet talkin’ sugar coated candy man

    Candy man, candy man
    Candy man, candy man
    Candy man, candy man

(Tarzan and Jane were swingin’ on a vine
Tarzan and Jane were swingin’ on a vine
Sippin’ from a bottle of vodka double wine
Sippin’ from a bottle of vodka double wine
Jane lost her grip and down she fell
Jane lost her grip and down she fell
Squared herself away as she let out a yell
