This week, the lyric Simply Marquessa chose was: “With the touch of your hand, you start a fire burning…” I have to say that when I read the theme I picked for this week, I got really excited.
It’s funny to me that we’ve been doing this for a few years now and I honestly haven’t run out of theme ideas. Some have been really similar, but they have all been unique in their own way. The other amazing thing is that there is so much great music out there to share. I want to thank all those who participate and share amazing music each week. Doing this wouldn’t be quite as much fun without your influence and support. When I first started doing this, it was almost like a slow sizzle, but now there is a great big bonfire roaring each week and I’m truly grateful for the warmth and friendship it provides.
Did you see what I did there? I started talking about the theme and you probably didn’t even know it! (Who am I kidding? You are all really smart people and I’m sure the wheels are already turning…) So, to get right into it, our theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is “fire”.
As always, you can go your own way and post a song that has nothing to do with the prompt. We’re all here sharing our love of music and lyrics, and most of all, having a great time!
If you would like to suggest a theme, I am open to suggestions. Please either pop it in the comments or send me an email at helenvahdati@yahoo.com.
Here are the “rules”:
- Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
- Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
- Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
- Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
- Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
- Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process
Feel free to use the Song Lyric Sunday badge by copying it into your post or add it to your site to show you are participating.
Lol! I did see what you did there! 🙂

I noticed that this song has already been used, but it has such a personal connection to me that I am still going to use it. When I went back to school in 2011, I was worried it would really affect my kids in a bad way, but then this song happened. My daughter was taking a class where they had to identify all the people and events in this song, and it was the first time I was truly able to use my love of history to help my kids with an assignment. She only had to identify the first section of the song, but she decided to do the entire song for extra credit, being the only student in her class who did so. It turned into a family bonding moment, because we would talk about it at the dinner table, so here is Billy Joel’s, “We Didn’t Start the FIre.”

OK this one is just plain fun and took me back to a time in my life that those of MY age will tell you, “If you can remember those times (the 60’s), you weren’t really there!”
Well, I WAS and I DO remember but then I was never into the current drug offerings of those times.
Here’s my contribution!

No time for another post on my blog but I did think of another song.
Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire”.
Then I heard the coolest story on the radio today. Apparently Bruce opened a recent concert with a song from Lorde. She was so moved she sang “I’m on Fire” at her next concert and dedicated it to him.
