Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 9/17/17

This week, the lyric Simply Marquessa chose was: “In your eyes I’ve found the missing pieces…”  However, the theme I chose doesn’t have much to do with that one lyric.  I went and read all the lyrics to Savage Garden’s I knew I loved You, and was able to come up with an interesting theme.  Besides, we did the whole “love” thing back in February, and I’m all about keeping it fresh here on the blog.

I know I’m guilty of “forward thinking”.  I try to predict how someone will react when I say certain things.  I was also guilty of thinking the absolute worst when my husband had heart surgery earlier this year.  It’s hard not to let your mind run, but honestly, we are pretty bad at predicting the future, thank god!  My husband is healthy and whole and we were able to get married only a few months after his surgery.

That being said, our theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is fortune telling/predicting the future.

As always, you can go your own way and post a song that has nothing to do with the prompt.  We’re all here sharing our love of music and lyrics, and most of all, having a great time!

If you would like to suggest a theme, I am open to suggestions.   Please either pop it in the comments or send me an email at helenvahdati@yahoo.com.

Here are the “rules”:

  • Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
  • Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
  • Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
  • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
  • Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
  • Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process

SoCS – Volatile Ecstasy

Bodies entwined
Hearts pounding in unison
Volatile sparks hovering
In the voluminous musk
Volcanic sizzling
A slowly building volution
Voluptuous sighs
A gentle kiss
Erupting beyond the crest
In blissful ecstasy

Stream of Consciousness Saturday  is hosted by Linda G Hill. Today’s prompt is “vol.” Find a word with “vol” in it, and use it in your post. Have fun!

I sort of cheated on this one as it isn’t really stream of conscious, but I figured it’s better to have something than nothing at all. I’m giving myself a point for the process being stream of conscious, even if the end result isn’t. Please forgive me, Linda!

#MarquessaChallenge – Coming Home

As soon as I was in the car and heading to work, I dialed Jane’s number.

“Hey Lila, what’s up?”

“I dreamed about him again.”

“Really? That’s so weird! And you swear you’ve never met this person?”

“I swear! It’s crazy, right? I’m starting to think it really is just a stupid dream and it doesn’t mean anything except maybe the two shots of vodka I had last night.”

“Yeah, but you’ve been dreaming about him since you were a kid. That has to mean something, doesn’t it?

“When I was sixteen and stupid, I sure thought so, but now I just don’t know.”

**

I could hear the music the second I got out of the car and it made me feel even more miserable. All I wanted was a glass of wine, a bath and a book, but Jane was so excited about her new house, I just couldn’t let her down.

She opened the door before I could even knock and dragged me inside. “God, it’s good to see you. These people are so boring!”

“I thought these people were your friends…” Laughing, I let her drag me into the kitchen where the noise wasn’t quite as bad.

“They’re Roger’s friends. Some of the new neighbors have shown up too. What do you want to drink?”

“Red wine?”

She gave me a look but proceeded to open up a bottle. I set her gift on the table and headed toward her bedroom to drop my purse.

“Excuse me, could you…?”

I turned at the sound of the man’s voice behind me and gasped. My heart started fluttering in my chest and my mouth went dry. Was it possible?

“I’m sorry, what did you say?” Good for me, a coherent sentence. There was no way to keep my voice from shaking, though.

“I was going to ask where the restroom was, but… Have we met?” He looked almost as dumbfounded as I felt.

“No, I don’t think so, but…” I let my voice trail off because what I was going to say was ridiculous.

He smiled and reached out his hand. “I’m Matt.”

Smiling and shaking, I reached out my hand and gently laid it in his. “I’m Lila.”

The second our eyes locked and our skin touched, I knew I’d finally come home.

#fictionfriday is brought to us by Simply Marquessa. Today’s lyric prompt is: “In your eyes I’ve found the missing pieces.”

I have to say that it was a nice change to write a cheesy love story for once.  Thanks again for the prompt, Marquessa!

Song Lyric Sunday – Blind by Kesha

There were a lot of obvious choices this week but I wanted to find something that maybe wasn’t as well know, so I went looking through my library.  I’m getting pretty familiar with all the artists in there because I scroll through it every Saturday.  You’d think I’d be listening to it more, but I sort of got into podcasts and don’t really listen to music as much as I used to.

Anyway, I’ve come across Kesha a few times and haven’t had an occasion to use one of her songs.  She isn’t one of my favorite artists.  Some of her songs are kind of annoying, to be honest, but this one fit so perfectly and has such a great beat that I thought I’d share it.

It is difficult when a relationship ends, but for some reason it’s nice to think of your ex being unhappy or not finding whatever they may have left you for.  I’ve walked away from most of my relationships, but there was one that I was doubting my decision to leave.  It didn’t take long to realize that I’d made the right decision, but he sort of made it easy when he moved in with someone else within a few months, got married a few months after that, and was pregnant six later, even after he told me he didn’t want kids.

I saw him a few years later, and I have to say that he didn’t look good.  It sounds terrible, but I was almost happy that he looked so miserable.  This song makes me think of that.

I hope you enjoy!

I think you got the best of me
You’re sleepin’ with the enemy
You left me all alone, alone, alone, alone
The beat drops, I’m so low
My heart stops, I already know
You left me all alone, alone, alone, alone
I’m sick and tired of the mess you made me
Never gonna catch me cry oh, whoa, whoa
You must be blind if you can’t see
You’ll miss me till the day you die
Oh, whoa, whoa, without me you’re nothing
Oh, whoa, whoa, you must be blind if you can’t see
You’ll miss me till the day you die
Oh, whoa, whoa
I’ve let go finally over you
This drama that you put me through
I’m better all alone, alone, alone, alone
The beat drops, you’re so low
It’s last call and it’s gotten old
Now look who’s all alone, alone, alone, alone
I’m sick and tired of the mess you made me
Never gonna catch me cry oh, whoa, whoa
You must be blind if you can’t see
You’ll miss me till the day you die
Oh, whoa, whoa without me you’re nothing
Oh, whoa, whoa, you must be blind if you can’t see
You’ll miss me till the day you die
Oh, whoa, whoa
I trusted you, you were the first
Then you lied and it gets worse
You broke me down, now just look around
(Who’s all alone?)
Who’s all alone now?
I’m sick and tired of the mess you made me
Never gonna catch me cry
Oh, whoa, whoa
You must be blind if you can’t see
You’ll miss me till the day you die
Oh, whoa, whoa
Without me you’re nothing
Oh, whoa, whoa
You must be blind if you can’t see
You’ll miss me till the day you die

Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 9/10/17

This week, the lyric Simply Marquessa chose was: “Payback is a bad bitch…”  I’m honestly not huge on revenge or vengeance, but sometimes I think about it, just like probably everyone else.  It’s fun to let your mind run wild about things you would like to do to someone who has wronged you.  Maybe that’s why these types of songs and song lyrics are so mesmerizing.

I tend to think that nature has a way of working itself out, though, so no need to put myself in harms way just to get back at someone.  The time will come when things will catch up to them.  At least, that’s the hope.

Anyway, on to the theme reveal.  In case you haven’t guessed already, the theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is revenge/vengeance.

As always, you can go your own way and post a song that has nothing to do with the prompt.  We’re all here sharing our love of music and lyrics, and most of all, having a great time!

#MarquessaChallenge – The Awful Truth

Riley’s heart was beating so fast she feared the sound was resonating through the room. She burrowed deeper into the covers even though sweat was dripping down the back of her neck. She could hear his footsteps coming down the hallway and even though she was anticipating his arrival, it still sent shivers down her spine. She didn’t realize she’d been holding onto the hope that it was all just a big mistake. She wanted to believe Sam, knew she should believe her, but she also knew that sometimes kids played make-believe.

She heard him pause at the bedroom door and then heard it slowly opening. He hadn’t turned on the hallway light, but her eyes had already grown accustomed to the darkness in the room.

“Sam, are you awake,” he whispered?

Riley’s stomach turned and bile rose in her throat.

“Baby girl, it’s Daddy. It’s time to play our little game.” As he spoke, she heard his feet rustling on the carpet and saw his shadow moving closer and closer to the bed. She watched in sick fascination as he leaned down and slowly started to pull the covers back.

“What the hell?” He stepped back, but she was already climbing out of the bed with a gun aimed somewhere in the center of his body. “Riley! Sweetie, I can expl…”

The sound of the gun reverberated through the room over and over again until she clicked for what seemed liked the thousandth time and no more bullets came out. Finally, the only sound that remained was the ringing in her ears and the ragged gurgling of her husband’s dying breath.
