Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 9/3/17

As you may or may not know, I’m teaming up with Simply Marquessa during the month of September.  She is hosting a Friday Fiction challenge that is centered around music lyrics and I will continue to do SLS.  Since her post goes up on Friday, I’m going to try and find the theme from her post for the week.

This week, the lyric she chose was “Everytime I think of you, I always catch my breath.”  When I checked, I was honestly surprised that I hadn’t done this theme before. While breathing seems like such a basic thing, it is really one of those things that centers and grounds you when you focus on it (at least it does for me).  I also did a quick search, and I can tell you that there is no shortage of songs out there.  You actually might have a hard time narrowing it down to just one.

Anyway, just in case you didn’t catch it, the theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is breathing/breath.

As always, you can go your own way and post a song that has nothing to do with the prompt.  We’re all here sharing our love of music and lyrics, and most of all, having a great time!

If you would like to suggest a theme, I am open to suggestions.   Please either pop it in the comments or send me an email at

Here are the “rules”:

  • Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
  • Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
  • Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
  • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
  • Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
  • Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process

Feel free to use the Song Lyric Sunday badge by copying it into your post or add it to your site to show you are participating.

Are you ready to have some fun at Helen’s place?

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I’m teaming up with Helen at This Thing Called Life One Word At A Time during the month of September. Helen is hosting a Song Lyric Sunday Challenge that is centered on a musical theme and its lyrics while I continue with my #Fiction Friday Challenge. She has graciously decided to use my challenge to try and find the theme from her post for each week this month.

Today’s musical theme is “breathing/breath” and I already have a half dozen songs whirling around my brain to participate with!

Below you will find a reblog to this week’s theme so please join in on the fun at Helen’s place by participating strong!

  11. “Breathe” became my motto after my blood clot, and this song seems to sum up how I feel everyday, being able to be with the ones I love. As my children started college this week, I had to remind myself to “Just Breathe,” and the line, “Stay with me let’s just breathe,” seemed so perfect. so here is Pearl Jam’s, “Just Breathe.”

    Yes I understand
    That every life must end
    As we sit alone
I know someday we must go

    Yeah I’m a lucky man
    To count on both hands
    The ones I love
    Some folks just have one
    Yeah others they got none

    Stay with me
    Let’s just breathe

    Practised on our sins
    Never gonna let me win
    Under everything
    Just another human being

    I don’t want to hurt
There’s so much in this world
    To make me believe

    Stay with me
    All I see

Did I say that I need you?
Did I say that I want you?
What if I did and I’m a fool you see
No one knows this more than me
    ‘Cause I come clean

    I wonder everyday
As I look upon your face
    Everything you gave
    And nothing you would take
    Nothing you would take
    Everything you gave

Did I say that I need you?
Did I say that I want you?
What if I did and I’m a fool you see
No one knows this more than me
    I come clean

    Nothing you would take
    Everything you gave
    Hold me ’till I die
Meet you on the other side
