Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 8/6/17

Can you believe it’s August already? I sure can’t. The year is just flying by!

I found myself highly unmotivated last night, so I decided to do a little bit of Netflix binge-watching.  My hubby and I started watching a show around the first of July that he just couldn’t ever get into.  It’s definitely different, but I still wanted to see how it ends, so I found myself watching it last night while the hubby was working.  The main character is a therapist who goes way beyond ethics to try and help her patients.  She purposely meets their friends and family members, but has to introduce herself as a different person.  She lies so much, that she was actually writing down the likes and dislikes of this made up person so she could presumably keep everything straight in her head.

That scene got me to thinking about the theme for Song Lyric Sunday, because why wouldn’t it?  So, our theme for this week is lies/lying.

As always, you can go your own way and post a song that has nothing to do with the prompt.  We’re all here sharing our love of music and lyrics, and most of all, having a great time!

If you would like to suggest a theme, I am open to suggestions.   Please either pop it in the comments or send me an email at helenvahdati@yahoo.com.

Here are the “rules”:

  • Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
  • Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
  • Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
  • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
  • Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
  • Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process

Feel free to use the Song Lyric Sunday badge by copying it into your post or add it to your site to show you are participating.

  4. Which show is this? I am a binge Netflix viewer…at my age, living alone, I embrace my time. I told my daughter in law about Jane the Virgin…it is silly but once you start, you love it. It is a typical Télénovella lots of Spanish in it and my daughter in law is from Chile. So she would tell my son she was tired but really she was watching the show in their bedroom. My son ended up getting hooked on it too…they binged on it too 🙂 Ok, so let me know which show you were referring to. I am a counsellor and I might find this hilarious or frustrating but still, I wanna know:) tracesofthesoul.wordpress.com/2017/08/06/song-lyric-sunday-elephant-damien-rice/

  10. I decided to go with the first song I thought of when I read the theme. It is amazing how often we lie in everyday life. I got to thinking about all the times I lied to my children telling them that daddy would be okay and would be home soon when I had no idea myself if that was true. This song is not about that, but this is what I was thinking as the song came to mind, “Would I lie to you? Would I lie to you honey?”
Written by Annie Lennox, David Allan Stewart from Google Play Music

    Would I Lie To You?

    Would I lie to you?
Would I lie to you honey?
Now would I say something that wasn’t true?
    I’m asking you sugar
    Would I lie to you?

My friends, know what’s in store.
    I won’t be here anymore.
    I’ve packed my bags
    I’ve cleaned the floor.
    Watch me walkin’.
    Walkin’ out the door.

Believe me, I’ll make it make it
Believe me, I’ll make it make it

    Would I lie to you?
Would I lie to you honey?
Now would I say something that wasn’t true?
    I’m asking you sugar
    Would I lie to you?

    Tell you straight, no intervention.
    To your face, no deception.
    You’re the biggest fake.
    That much is true.
    Had all I can take.
    Now I’m leaving you

Believe me, I’ll make it make it
Believe me, I’ll make it make it

    Would I lie to you?
Would I lie to you honey?
Now would I say something that wasn’t true?
    I’m asking you sugar
    Would I lie to you?

    Would I lie to you?
Would I lie to you honey?
Now would I say something that wasn’t true?
    I’m asking you sugar
    Would I lie to you?

My friends, know what’s in store.
    I won’t be here anymore.
    I’ve packed my bags
    I’ve cleaned the floor.
    Watch me walkin’.
    Walkin’ out the door.

Believe me, I’ll make it make it
Believe me, I’ll make it make it

    Would I lie to you?

    • Oooh, good choice! It is strange to think how we tell little white lies all the time but somehow they’re acceptable. I would have told my kids the same thing, to be honest. Love you sis! 😘

  12. Ahh, the show Gypsy. Love it and hate it and definitely binged on it!! I am a psychotherapist and some of this makes me shudder at the already damaged reputation of therapists all over. My favorite movie therapists are still Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting and Judd Hirsch in Ordinary People. My kind of therapists!
By the way, your theme this week brought up some surprises for me (as you can see in my post) and made me want to go see MY therapist!

    • Hah, yeah, music can do that to you. Watching Gypsy made me want to see my therapist. Haha. I finally finished it yesterday. I’m not sure I’ll keep watching if they do another season. It was too triggering. Also, love the movie Good Will Hunting!! ❤️
