Another week has come and gone and I’m still struggling to get back into this blogging thing. I’m thinking it won’t fully happen this year… considering we won’t be closing on the house until the second week in December, and the very next week I have surgery. I’m not sure I’ve shared that bit of news, but it’s nothing too terrible. Just something that has needed to happen for a while, but is, admittedly, coming at a not so great time.
Even crazier, we are planning to get married the first week of January… did we maybe stack too many things all together? Probably… But when you’re on a roll, might as well get everything done, as long as you can survive it all.
Which leads me to this week, somehow. I know it may seem cheesy, but the whole idea of celebrating Thanksgiving is to give thanks. I love eating as much as the next person, but I really love the idea of spending your life being grateful for what you have. I’m also of the opinion that it is a spiritual path worth following.
So, our theme for Song Lyric Sunday is to post a song about gratitude.
As always, you can go your own way and post a song that has nothing to do with the prompt. We’re all here sharing our love of music and lyrics, and most of all, having a great time!
Also, if you would like to suggest a theme, I am open to suggestions. Please either pop it in the comments or send me an email at redesp75@yahoo.com.
Here are the “rules”:
- Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
- Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
- Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
- Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
- Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
- Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process
Feel free to use the Song Lyric Sunday badge by copying it into your post or add it to your site to show you are participating.

So, good luck, congratulations, and happy thanksgiving — not necessarily in that order, of course.
Funny, some weeks I struggle to think of a song — this week, I picked this out of the empty space inside my head in a thrice.

It is a little spooky how often my posts fit in your theme even though I write the posts way in advance 🙂 https://beehalton.com/2016/11/20/song-lyric-sunday-chris-malinchak/

Happy Thanksgiving all. I have so much to be grateful for, so I decided to take my favorite Piano Guys song and find the lyrics that were originally written for the song way back in the 1700s. The song was written by an American “Shaker” and it speaks of change and the good that can come from it. With my daughter turning 18 this week, I realize how blessed I am to be here for this milestone in her life, and despite how hard it has been to learn my new normal, I am grateful that I have the opportunity. The other part of the song is “Over the Rainbow,” and I decided not to give the lyrics for that song because most people can hear them when the music plays.
Lyrics by: Joseph Brackett (1797-1882)
‘Tis the gift to be simple, ’tis the gift to be free
‘Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
‘Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gain’d,
To bow and to bend we shan’t be asham’d,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come ’round right.

Well, thanks for making me cry!! ❤
Whenever I watch him play, it makes me miss playing the piano. I don't know… I might need to buy another piano at some point. I didn't realize how much I missed it until I watched these posts you've done. I don't think there is anything more lovely than the piano and strings combined. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Happy Thanksgiving!!

So glad she was talking to you not me. I learnt piano as a child. My mum classically trained yet didn’t teach me. It wasn’t to be. My disability has left me one-handed. Glad I didn’t learn the Cello. That would have really sucked.

I’m so sorry to hear that. I played piano for years, but I haven’t had a piano to play for a while now and I guess I didn’t realize I missed it. 😊
