Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 9/4/16

Well, I almost forgot about Song Lyric Sunday this week, and I probably shouldn’t even be posting right now, but, here I am.  I’m just happy someone commented on last week’s post and reminded me.  LOL.

This house hunting business is really all-consuming, but it actually leads me to this week’s theme…

Our theme for Song Lyric Sunday is to post a song about home, whatever that might mean for you.   (Is it weird that all my themes have to do with my own life?  Or is that pretty normal?)

As always, you can go your own way and post a song that has nothing to do with the prompt.  We’re all here sharing our love of music and lyrics, and most of all, having a great time!

Also, if you would like to suggest a theme, I am open to suggestions.   Please either pop it in the comments or send me an email at redesp75@yahoo.com.

Here are the “rules”:

  • Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
  • Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
  • Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
  • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
  • Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
  • Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process

Feel free to use the Song Lyric Sunday badge by copying it into your post or add it to your site to show you are participating.

  1. I did offered a prompt for three months last year. It seemed like it was always the day before the prompt was due. Amazing how fast a week goes. A song popped into my head when I read this home prompt. I look forward to writing it tomorrow!

  4. Love this theme but have already posted my favorite song called Home. May just have to repeat. And of COURSE, your choices should have to do with YOU!! I love getting to know you in this way! Through music. Isn’t that your intention?? That we all connect through music?

Though I am hoping NOT to have to move from my home anytime soon, I certainly understand, at least my version of it, how consuming it can be. And I’m just moving around inside my own long-time house/home to make room for my son and 2 grandsons.

I have even started a series of posts about my house. This is a good reminder to get back to it.

Thanks again for this prompt and take a break if you need to. (smiley, winking face here.) (oh, and some hearts!)

    wish I had some emoticons….

    • Yes, that’s my intention, but sometimes it feels a bit self-serving, you know? Or maybe it’s supposed to be a little easier for me since I’m doing the theme and all. 😉

I never thought I would almost forget about posting the theme, but I almost did yesterday. If things don’t settle down, I might have to take a break from this too. We should be under contract soon, though. Fingers crossed!!

Thanks for all your support! 😊

  6. There are so many songs about home, but I immediately thought about all the times I’ve been with my family and a song came on that we all want to turn up and listen to loud when we are all home together. So I went to my family and we thought about it and came up with our favorite, Savatage “Hall of the Mountain King.”

Written by: John Oliva, Christopher Oliva, Paul O’Neill, John Lee Middleton

    Far away
    In a land caught between
    Time and space
Where the books of life lay
    We fear
    This castle of stone
    The mountain king roams
    All alone in here
But he’s not the only one
    Lost inside
    Forever hidden from the sun

    Madness reigns
In the Hall of the Mountain King
    Oh yeah

    His deep
    Dark eyes
    Keep watch on his kingdom
And the mysteries that sleeps safe inside
    His hall
    His towers of stone
    Shall not be overthrown
    For eternity
It is guarded by the king
Insanity and the power that it brings

    Madness reigns
In the Hall of the Mountain King
    Oh yeah
In the Hall of the Mountain King
    Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

    Come with me
    Stay close by my side
As the darkness of night closes in
    Don’t fear
    In the thunder, it roars
When the Mountain King calls all his children home
To where I hid him we must run
Refuge(?) here but I was forever on the run

    Madness reigns
    (my friends)
In the Hall of the Mountain King
    Oh yeah
In the Hall of the Mountain King
    Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

    • I love that home means different things for everyone, and having the family’s favorite song come on, is definitely one for me as well.

Whenever I hear older music like this, I always think we missed out on so much when we were growing up. I thought this was early eighties when I first looked at it, but it was later. I’m not sure I would have liked it back then, but I would have loved the chance to explore music outside of the religious stigma we grew up with. Thanks so much for sharing this. I truly enjoyed it very much! 🙂
