Song Lyric Sunday and #LoIsInDaBl Day 28 – Already Gone by Kelly Clarkson

Have you ever been in a relationship where you truly believed you loved that person enough to let them go?  I’ve said it before in a relationship but I’ve never actually done it.  I’m not sure it’s something that’s easily done.  Walking away from someone when you’re still in love with them makes it harder to let go.  In the past, even when I thought I was over, I still had a hard time finding out that the other person had moved on.

I wasn’t sure what song to pick, but then I remembered this one.  It makes me cry when I hear it because it’s gut-wrenching.  One of my favorite lines: “But  I know that you’ll find another, that doesn’t always make you wanna cry”.

I hope you enjoy this week’s Song Lyric Sunday pick as much as I do.  Feel free to read the “rules” below and join in with one of your own.

Already Gone by Kelly Clarkson
Written by Kelly Clarkson and Ryan Tedder
Lyrics found at AZ Lyrics

Remember all the things we wanted
Now all our memories, they’re haunted
We were always meant to say goodbye
Even with our fists held high
It never would have worked out right, yeah
We were never meant for do or die
I didn’t want us to burn out
I didn’t come here to hurt you now I can’t stop

I want you to know
That it doesn’t matter
Where we take this road
But someone’s gotta go
And I want you to know
You couldn’t have loved me better
But I want you to move on
So I’m already gone

Looking at you makes it harder
But I know that you’ll find another
That doesn’t always make you wanna cry
It started with the perfect kiss then
We could feel the poison set in
“Perfect” couldn’t keep this love alive
You know that I love you so
I love you enough to let you go

And I’m already gone, I’m already gone
You can’t make it feel right
When you know that it’s wrong
I’m already gone, already gone
There’s no moving on
So I’m already gone

Ah already gone, already gone, already gone
Ah already gone, already gone, already gone

Remember all the things we wanted
Now all our memories, they’re haunted
We were always meant to say goodbye

And I’m already gone, I’m already gone
You can’t make it feel right
When you know that it’s wrong
I’m already gone, already gone
There’s no moving on
So I’m already gone

Here are the “rules”:

  • Post the lyrics to a favorite song or a new song you want to share
  • I’ve started including who wrote the song. (I think it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due)
  • Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
  • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
  • Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
  • Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process

Today’s Song Lyric Sunday is combined with Love Is In Da Blog hosted by Just Fooling Around with Bee. Her prompt today was “Goodbye Songs” since it is our last combined post.  Thanks for all who took part during Love Is In Da Blog.  I hope you stick around for more song lyric fun!

  2. Good morning, Helen… yes, I’ve had an experience with letting one go that I truly loved. It was heart-wrenching, but had to be done… mostly for myself as she lived in Canada and our departure hurt me deeply. She tried to communicate with me after she left me, but I just couldn’t go through the pain again. So I let her go. That song is powerful by Kelly Clarkson.. I felt each word deeply. Have a great Sunday!

  4. Oh my! I am working on my post and this is one of the songs I planned on including. The part that always makes me tear up is about “you know that I love you so I…love you enough to let you go”.
When she sings that part I find it gets to me every time. I have been in a relationship like this one in the song before and I can’t believe we had a same song in mind like this.

I love song lyric Sunday so much I hope to continue, even now that LoIsInDaBl is coming to an end.

    • Hey, great minds think alike! It’s a beautiful song. I’ve been in a relationship like if too but I didn’t have what it took to walk away when I should have. But, we live and learn.

I’m so happy you like it! It’s so much fun to share music. 🙂

  5. Hi Helen, I’ve never experienced this either, and it was usually me who left my partners because otherwise it would just have ended in worse than it already was. But leaving is bad no matter if you are still in love or if it is gone. I have grieved for all my relationships for the broken hopes and the missed opportunities. But I have found myself and with that, I have found my soul mate and the “until death do us part” will work here. Thanks for sharing this one.
