I mentioned last week that I would be throwing up quotes from some of my favorite books (I would probably even say they are my favorite books) written by Jacqueline Carey. In order for it all to not get too confusing, I thought I’d help y’all out by giving you a bit of information. If you’re like me, you will want to read the first book in the first trilogy and then continue in order. I don’t think there is anything worse than reading books out of order, and believe me… I’ve done it way too many times!
The one thing I will say is that if you like your books in the G or PG category, this probably isn’t the series for you since there is both violence and sex. But, if you are willing to push your boundaries, I will say they are masterfully told and I highly recommend them (I know I said that last week, but I just can’t say it enough)!
Last week, I did a quote from Kushiel’s Dart which is the first book in the first trilogy. The first trilogy is Phedre no Delaunay’s story and includes Kushiel’s Chosen (book #2) and Kushiel’s Avatar (book #3).
This week, I am doing a quote from Kushiel’s Scion which is the first book in the second trilogy. The second trilogy is Imriel de la Courcel’s story and includes Kushiels’ Justice (book #2) and Kushiel’s Mercy (book #3).
I will do a quote from the last Trilogy next week and will give you more details, unless of course you beat me to it and go look it all up on Goodreads or the author’s website.
The last thing I will say about the whole thing is how much I love the world Carey created. She seemed to create the different parts of the world based on our own and I always imagined Terre d’Ange was France, Skaldia was Russia, and Alba was Scotland.
And now (finally), the quote. I hope you enjoy!
“There would be love, and while it was mine, I could cling to it. I could rejoice — in life, in the existence of love. In the existence of people like Phedre and Joscelin. Although the standards they set were impossibly high, still, I could rejoice that such courage and compassion existed in the world. I could hope and aspire.”
Love Is In Da Blog is hosted by Bee at Just Fooling Around with Bee. I’m kind of ignoring today’s prompt, “Books we loved as a teenager”, since I already had a plan in mind for This week. We are also combining the post with Teaser Tuesday hosted by Jenn at A Daily Rhythm.
