Song Lyric Sunday – The Weary Kind by Ryan Bingham

Some weeks I have the song picked out days in advance. This week, I had no idea what I was going to do. I’m not even sure what made me think of this song except that I was thinking about my boyfriend and how much has happened since we first met almost three years ago.

I didn’t know much about the song except that it was a song in the movie Crazy Heart. It’s a great movie, by the way. Sad, but good. I didn’t know that the song won the Academy Award for best song written for a motion picture, or that Jeff Bridges won the Academy Award for best actor. I’m pretty sure the boyfriend mentioned it at some point, but I must have forgotten.

I’m going to dedicate this one to my love. It’s one of his favorite songs and I do believe he felt like he had lived the life described in the song. I am more grateful every day that he decided to “pick up your crazy heart and give it one more try”.

I hope you enjoy this weeks choice for Song Lyric Sunday. Feel free to read the “rules” below and join in with one of your own.

The Weary Kind by Ryan Bingham
Music found at AZ Lyrics

Your heart’s on the loose
You rolled them seven’s with nothing to lose
This ain’t no place for the weary kind

You called all your shots
Shootin’ 8 ball at the corner truck stop
Somehow this don’t feel like home anymore

And this ain’t no place for the weary kind
This ain’t no place to lose your mind
This ain’t no place to fall behind
Pick up your crazy heart and give it one more try

Your body aches
Playin’ your guitar, sweating out the hate
The days and the nights all feel the same

Whiskey has been
A thorn in your side, it doesn’t forget
The highway that calls for your heart inside

And this ain’t no place for the weary kind
This ain’t no place to lose your mind
This ain’t no place to fall behind
Pick up your crazy heart and give it one more try

Your lover’s warm kiss
Is too damn far from your fingertips
You are the man that ruined her world

Your heart’s on the loose
You rolled them seven’s with nothing to lose
This ain’t no place for the weary kind

  4. Glad you shared such a wonderful song about a wonderful man. “All the best to you both,” she added.
I’m participating this week, and wrote my post after the news that David Bowie had passed. So, I changed to Changes as my song lyrics.
Thank you for hosting this. What a great idea!
