#frapalymo Day 12 – Why

Darkness surrounds my
Broken heart
Quietly transforming
Blissful abandon into
Dreadful mourning

Grief clutches at my being
Rage slowly building
Quickly ebbing
My world reduced to
A spinning maelstrom

Unanswered questions play
A steady beat in my head

The echoing cries
Surround me
I curl into a ball
Softly close my eyes
And long for quiet darkness

#frapalymo is hosted by @FrauPaulchen and is translated by Bee on her blog Just Fooling Around with Bee. Today’s prompt is part of a tweet posted by @Reticulum – “quiet darkness.” It’s been a rough week and even though I’ve read all the prompts, I just couldn’t manage a poem. This one inspired me though, and I was able to knock it out at lunch. I always seem to feel better when I create something. I just wish it wasn’t such a struggle sometimes.
