OctPoWriMo – A Colorless Landscape

A Colorless Landscape

Melting heat
Wraps around me
Liquid droplets
Chilling on my skin as
A light breeze blows
Gently lapping waves
Kiss the silky shoreline
Bright white sunlight blends
With silver sparkling sand
White-ish gray water churns
Across a colorless
Breathing the salty spray
I stretch out my arms
And throw my head back
Choking on laughter
Rising up through my body
At the edge of the world
Time stands still

The day eight OctPoWriMo challenge was to write a poem about a color and a memory attached to it. I pretty much described any time I’ve been to the ocean, but specifically when I went to the beach with my daughter last year in North Carolina. It always seems to me that the colors blend, so there really isn’t a color. I love the ocean. I wish I lived closer to an ocean, but I will continue to enjoy the times I can visit.
