Song Lyric Sunday – Remembering Sunday by All Time Low

I’ve been looking forward to this all week, but I have to tell you, it isn’t all that easy picking a song. I have so many songs that I love and songs that I listen to every day that I fall in love with. I think the reason I picked this particular song, though, was because of the storytelling in it.

Just for a little bit of background, All Time Low is a band that Adelle started listening to before they became mainstream popular. When I took her and two of her friends to Warped Tour when she was 13, they were the second band we saw on the main stage. Having not been to many concerts in my life and not realizing what we were getting ourselves into, we made our way to the very front after the first band was done. To this day, I don’t know how we accomplished it, but we did.

We were all pretty excited; although, I have to admit to not really knowing or liking the band all that much. I was there for Adelle and her friends. When they came on stage, I honestly thought we were all going to die. The rush of bodies forward was insane and there were moments I couldn’t breathe. I completely lost site of one of the girls and I finally looked at Adelle’s terror-stricken face and asked her if she wanted to leave. She said she did, but she said there was no way out. I told her that we had to fight our way out, and we did.

We all ended up coming out at different locations in the crowd and were so traumatized, we didn’t even stick around to finish listening to their set.

Adelle and I have grown since then, both in musical tastes and in sticking through a crowd filled with crushing bodies to listen to an awesome band. I was also fully immersed in All Time Low and this song quickly became my favorite. Adelle and I have been known to sing the entire song at the top of our lungs, hand movements and love-stricken looks acting out the lyrics.

My favorite part is when he sings about clouds following him “in my desperate endeavor to find my whoever, wherever she may be,” and how she sings “I’m over your now, I’m at home in the clouds towering over your head.” It’s pretty brilliant.

Remembering Sunday by All Time Low
Featuring Juliet SimmsLyrics from Metro Lyrics

He woke up from dreaming and put on his shoes
Started making his way past two in the morning
He hasn’t been sober for days

Leaning now into the breeze remembering Sunday
He falls to his knees, they had breakfast together
But two eggs don’t last like the feeling of what he needs

Now this place seems familiar to him
She pulled on his hand with a devilish grin
She led him upstairs, she led him upstairs
Left him dying to get in

Forgive me, I’m trying to find
My calling, I’m calling at night
I don’t mean to be a bother, but have you seen this girl?
She’s been running through my dreams
And it’s driving me crazy, it seems
I’m gonna ask her to marry me

And even though she doesn’t believe in love
He’s determined to call her bluff
Who could deny these butterflies?
They’re filling his gut

Waking the neighbors, unfamiliar faces
He pleads though he tries
But he’s only denied
Now he’s dying to get inside

Forgive me, I’m trying to find
My calling, I’m calling at night
I don’t mean to be a bother, but have you seen this girl?
She’s been running through my dreams
And it’s driving me crazy, it seems
I’m gonna ask her to marry me

The neighbor said, she moved away
Funny how it rained all day
I didn’t think much of it then
But it’s starting to all make sense

Oh, I can see now
That all of these clouds are following me
In my desperate endeavor
To find my whoever, wherever she may be

I’m not coming back, I’ve done something so terrible
I’m terrified to speak but you’d expect that from me
I’m mixed up, I’ll be blunt
Now the rain is just washing you out of my hair

And out of my mind, keeping an eye on the world
So many thousands of feet off the ground
I’m over you now, I’m at home in the clouds
Towering over your head

Well I guess I’ll go home now
I guess I’ll go home now
I guess I’ll go home now
I guess I’ll go home
