#frapalymo – A Fresh New Day

Clouds hover around
Snow-capped mountaintops
Rain permeates the air
Breathing its scent into a world
Waking up
Browns turn to green
Colors pop from velvet petals
Heavy with dew
Birdsong awakens the sleeping masses
Tinkling notes of love echoing through
The cold gray winter as it fades
Into a fresh new day

#frapalymo is hosted by @FrauPaulchen and is translated by Bee on her blog The Bee writes. Today’s prompt was to write a poem about spring without using the word “spring.” I wrote this on the train this morning as I was staring out the window. A lot of it describes my view this morning and the rest are things I’ve noticed in the past few months as spring has slowly descended on us.
