I have to admit that I picked up these books because I loved the movies so much and I figured the books would probably be even better. The first one didn’t disappoint; in fact, it actually turned me off the movies quite a bit. How is it that a strong female character in the book is reduced to a simpering love interest in the movie? I just don’t get why they made that choice at all, but then, I don’t understand a lot of what Hollywood does sometimes.
I really enjoy Ludlum’s writing style. So far, the books have been intense and have drawn me in from the moment I started reading. Sometimes he can get a little bogged down in the telling of his story, but I find myself amazed at how he makes sense out of all the moving parts.
If you like spy thrillers and you’ve seen the movies, I would highly suggest reading the books. The Bourne Supremacy is written by Robert Ludlum, and my teaser comes from page 70. I hope you enjoy!
“It was crazy, but as with so much of what Panov quietly, often casually, suggested, there was truth in his words. Webb walked along the cold, rocky beach, never for an instant forgetting what had happened, but whether it was the change of scene, or the wind, or the incessant, repetitive sounds of the pounding ocean, he found himself breathing more steadily – every bit as deeply, as tremulously as before, but without the higher register of hysteria.”
