Pizza and pumpkin don’t have anything to do with each other except for the fact that they are both my favorite foods. I don’t think it’s quite fair that out of all the letters, two of my favorite foods fall on the same one, and I have to tell you, I just couldn’t decide which one to talk about, so you get a little of both.
I was helping in the warehouse at work yesterday and they fed us pizza for lunch. I ended up taking two pieces of pizza with two bread sticks, although I could have had more pizza. I can always have more pizza as a matter of fact. I was baffled when one of the women sat down in front of me and had a single piece of pizza. Just one! How is that even possible? I don’t know how anyone has that type of self-control where pizza is involved.
Yesterday, I ended up having pizza for lunch and dinner. It was from two different places, so it tasted very different, but I think I had my fill yesterday.
I’m pretty simple about my pizza. I love just plain ol’ pepperoni but I also love margarita pizza which includes garlic, tomatoes and basil. I also love just tomatoes and cheese. I don’t even mind the crust. I could do a thin crust pizza or a really thick crust. Doesn’t matter.
Autumn is my favorite time of year for many different reasons, but one of the big ones is pumpkin. You can find it all over in October, but come February, I’m pretty much out of luck. I found pumpkin ice cream last year. Drizzle chocolate syrup on it, or just eat it plain. It’s to die for. Trader Joe’s has some amazing pumpkin foods including cereal bars with pumpkin filling, pumpkin pancakes (need I say more??), and I picked up some pumpkin coffee. The coffee is only a once in a while thing for me. It ends up being too something when you have too much of it.
My mom makes delicious pumpkin pie. Last year on my birthday, she made me an entire pie just for me! It was such a great birthday present. I went to her house for dinner last week and she made pumpkin pie for dessert. As I was eating it, I was thinking there was something off about it, but I didn’t say anything, just ate it and enjoyed it, because pumpkin pie! All the sudden, my mom jumped up and ran to the kitchen. When she came back she was shaking her head and laughing. She thought the recipe called for a quarter cup of sugar but it was actually three quarters of a cup. Apparently, you actually need the right amount of sugar for it to taste just right, but it was still good, especially with the whipping cream on top.
I also can’t forget to mention pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and pumpkin latte or pumpkin chai latte at Starbucks. I could probably go on because I love pumpkin that much!
Do you have a favorite food that starts with the letter P? How about more than one?
